What a cool week I've had! Several people told me that my show at Adair's Tuesday night was my best yet. David Bennett sat in on fiddle, in lieu of a lead guitar. The sound was real clear, and I think it complemented my voice well.
Jamie Hanna and Jonathan McEuen of MCA Nashville's Hanna-McEuen showed up and played a few songs with Charlie and David during my set break. These cousins are the sons of two founders of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. They have a unique sound and are both talented musicians. I was so happy to share a few minutes of the night with them!
Hanna-McEuen's MCA rep invited the whole band out to a suite at Ameriquest Field on Wednesday, so, after a very few hours sleep, Steve, Russ, David, Charlie and I headed out there for a 1:00 ball game.
MCA was pitching the guys to one of the larger country stations here in Dallas, so they had a nice spread that we enjoyed. Between innings they played a few songs and ran a short documentary about themselves.
I met Cross Canadian Ragweed's manager, Enzo DiVencenzo.
We ended up in Fort Worth to see Rusty Wier, who we played a show with last Saturday. What an entertaining performer! Rusty and all of his players were real nice and we enjoyed spending the afternoon with them at the crawfish boil.
Steve and I have a meeting with a distribution company this morning, and then we'll head over to Bill's Records to see my friend Ali Holder at an in-store. I actually have the weekend off, and plan to go see Hayes Carll with Ray Wylie Hubbard and Slaid Cleaves tomorrow night!
